Built in the 19th century by the art-loving De Vere family of Melchester Hall, this prestigious gallery houses works by a wide range of 19th and 20th century painters and sculptors. The second floor is dedicated to the work of Melchester-born artist Thomas Wainthorpe, whose colourful landscapes perfectly capture life in the town during the late Victorian and Edwardian eras.
