St Peter's Church

Famous for its well-preserved 15th century frescoes, St Peter's is a fine example of later Gothic architecture. At the western end of the graveyard you'll find the tomb of Melchester naval hero Admiral Standfast. Having survived six major battles and three bouts of malaria, he was finally killed at the age of 58 by the jealous husband of his mistress, Lady Davina Cartwright.
